Frequently asked questionS
What is Health Coaching?
People generally know the areas of their diet and lifestyle that are not serving them but it is putting into action and sticking with healthier habits that can be difficult. Health coaching provides the support and encouragement, along with expertise in nutrition and behavior modification, that is essential for improving health and wellness for the long term. Working with a health coach is about being empowered to listen to your body, uncover the underlying causes of health issues or concerns, and then putting into practice simple, sustainable ways to improve your overall wellbeing. Because the relationship with a health coach is one-on-one and tailored to the individual, the plan is always specific to the needs and goals of the client.
Who do you usually work with?
I work with clients of all ages and both men and women. While everyone comes with their own unique health issues and goals, there are some simple rules that can be applied to everyone. I always encourage my clients to follow Michael Polan’s principle which is to strive to eat “real food, mostly plants, not too much.” That said, clients are individual and dietary requirements vary from person to person. My goal is to empower each client to find what works specifically for them.
How long do clients typically work with you?
I offer several great programs that are detailed on my services page. In general, I encourage the 6-month program for people who know they want to make some changes and want to feel better but may need some time to figure out the dietary and lifestyle habits that are blocking them from reaching their goals. Six months allows me to support clients over an extended period of time.
My 3-month program can also be very effective especially for individuals who have specific goals and are ready to make healthy changes. For those who seek a condensed one-time session, I offer a stand along consultations which is a great way to get information and encouragement to jumpstart healthier habits. Another one-time offering is a pantry makeover. This is another way to support healthier eating and a chance to really understand how our choices at the grocery store can impact our health.
I also love to work with small groups and can present on health trends or topics of your choice. A small group can be a family, groups of friends, or professional groups.
